SolidARE

SolidARE— project of two partner cities and institutions: Kino Úsmev (Kosice, Slovakia) and Gnat Hotkevych Palace (Lviv, Ukraine). The project includes public screenings, cultural residencies, master classes, workshops and project visits, as well as a silent film concert as part of the project's grand public opening.
OUR GOAL:promote cultural exchange, the formation of an international community for which the development of Ukrainian cinema is a priority, as well as the exchange of best practices and representation of Ukrainian filmmakers in Central Europe.
ACTIVITY:
Public screenings
The series of screenings of “Ukrainian Cinema” for the Ukrainian community in Kosice. The program will include both retrospective and contemporary Ukrainian cinema.
Cultural Residences
The International Cultural Residency consists in the professional exchange of experts in the field of culture and management between partner cities. The main focus of the residence is restructuring (identities, social norms, communities, relationships, shared visions, or infrastructure). At the end of each residency, participants will share their findings at a public event.
Master classes and workshops
Master classes on animation/ sound in film/ documentary film/ film restoration and preservation of film heritage from professionals at Kino Úsmev, as well as invited Ukrainian residents.
Project visits
Employees of the Hotkevich Palace of Culture will take part in a project visit to Kino Úsmev to promote dialogue between project teams and exchange skills in the field of formation of auditoria, organization of events, strategic planning and inclusive activities.
Silent film concert
A unique screening of the silent film “Man with a Movie Machine” (1929) by Ukrainian director Dzyga Vertov with music by Misha Kalinin and Roxana Smirnova.
Special Screening and Panel Discussion
The screening will be accompanied by a moderated panel discussion on the topic of preservation, restoration and development of Ukrainian cinema with the participation of famous filmmakers, cultural figures, scientists and representatives of the public from Ukraine. We want to encourage cross-industry conversations between professionals from different industries.

The SolidARE project is implemented by CINEFIL and the Palace of Culture named after CINEFIL. Hnata Khotkevych, and is co-financed by the ZMINA: Rebuilding program, created with the support of the European Union within the framework of a special call for applications to support Ukrainian IDPs and the Ukrainian cultural and creative sectors, with the support of IFIs “IZOLYATSIA”, Trans Europe Halles and Malý Berlín.
