Lviv Film Commission
Lviv Film Commission is an official city organization whose tasks include promotion of Lviv, adaptation of local locations for filming, consulting services in the field of film production.
The Lviv Film Commission started its work in early 2015. The organization regulates the shooting rules, which provides not only promotion and PR of Lviv, but also brings financial investments to the city. The work of the LK takes place in three directions: industry, locations, communication. 90% of the services of the Lviv Film Commission are free: information consulting, granting of permits for filming, organization of film premieres, among paid — location scouting.
According to the decision of Lviv City Council N4720 dated March 11, 2019, the Lviv Film Commission became subordinate to the City Palace of Culture named after Gnat Hotkevych.
Film Commission Services:
1. Information consulting:
- Informing about the list and procedure of necessary documents for obtaining a shooting permit in Lviv;
- Informing about local film professionals required for the client's project;
- Information on forms of cooperation with filming locations;
- Consultation on various aspects of film production in Lviv;
- Communication and mediation between the client and companies of the Lviv Film Friendly network.
2. Granting permission to shoot:
- Recommendations on the design of a package of necessary documents;
- Verification and approval of the submitted documents;
- Communication with city authorities and city structures;
- Assistance in giving orders for filming.
3. Organization of film premieres:
- Assistance in the negotiation process with locations;
- Information and other promotional support for the screening of the film in Lviv;
- Conducting events accompanying the premiere and film rental in Lviv;
- Preferential accommodation and partial meals of representatives of film crews in Lviv institutions.
4. Location Scouting:
- Pre-selection and proposal formation based on customer's request;
- Organization of scouting tours in Lviv;
- Assistance in the negotiation process with private institutions;
- Administration of filming locations during filming.
The aim of the Lviv Film Commission is to make the film production process in Lviv competitive on the Ukrainian and international markets, to attract foreign teams to local projects and to talk about the city in the language of cinema on the world stage, to mark Lviv as a key point on the map of world cinema.
